It can make sense to buy different facial scrubs. For example, you can use an AHA peel once a week and a BHA peels the second time. After all, they meet other needs that you can use for yourself.
However, when buying a facial scrub, make sure that it does not contain any harmful ingredients. Peelings with microplastics harm you and the environment and should be avoided. On the other hand, you can pay attention to additional caring ingredients such as urea or hyaluronic acid – both give your skin a lot of moisture without making it greasy.
Keep in mind these facial peeling tips
To achieve the best results, we have put together tips for you on the ideal use of facial peeling. Remember that the skin on your face differs from your body as it is more delicate and prone to injury. Therefore, you should only use peelings for the look that are also intended for this purpose.
Your skin type determines the frequency
In general, facial peeling is suitable for all skin types. You should only do without if you have sunburn or scars. Otherwise, your skin type determines how often a facial peel is suitable for you. As a beginner peeler, you can use the following rule of thumb:
- Normal skin: once or twice a week
- Impure skin: maximum twice a week
- Dry skin: once a week
- Sensitive skin: twice a month
Wear sunscreen when using facial scrubs
By peeling off the top layer of skin, your skin becomes more sensitive to environmental influences such as UV radiation. Therefore, regardless of your skin type, you should only use the face scrub in the evening so that your skin has time to regenerate at night.
Nevertheless, it is advisable to always wear suitable Skincare sunscreen with a sun protection factor of at least 30 during the day. After all, exfoliation makes your skin more sensitive and, therefore, more susceptible to sun damage such as age spots or skin cancer.
Thoroughly cleanse the face
Before you use your facial scrub, you should first thoroughly remove dirt, makeup and sebum from your skin. You can use different products depending on your skin type. If you tend to have Dry or sensitive skin, a cleansing oil may be the best solution. A cleansing foam or gel is recommended for normal to oily skin.
Prepare face before peeling
When your face is clean, you can apply the scrub. For even more effectiveness, you can open your pores beforehand so that the active ingredients can work better later. To do this, take a small and clean cotton towel and place it in warm water for a few minutes. Then you put it on your face and let it rest for two to three minutes. The warmth opens your pores, and the peeling can work better.
Now put a little face scrub on your hands and apply it to your forehead, nose, cheek and chin. Massage it into the skin with gentle, circular movements; you can also include the neck and décolleté. Proceed as follows: Gently massage the peeling from the bridge of the nose to the tip of the nose; you can go a little firmer on the edges of the nose—massage fingers from forehead to temple and down from cheekbones to chin.
Depending on the product, wash off the peeling again. With mechanical facial peeling, this step is necessary. However, you don’t need to wash off most chemical peels. Then gently pat your face dry with a towel, and do not rub it roughly.
Then cream your face
It is entirely normal for your face to be slightly irritated after the peeling or to feel somewhat tight. You should therefore apply lotion after the facial peeling. Caring and gentle ingredients such as shea butter, hyaluronic acid, urea or aloe vera are recommended.
