Is your impure facial skin giving you a hard time and all anti-pimple creams or serums have not helped for a long time? Then we have a hot tip for you: try a steam bath for your face! Not only do you get rid of annoying pimples and blackheads: but facial steam baths are also great for skin care to prevent blemishes. How you can easily make a steam bath for your face in your small home spa yourself, we explain step by step in our instructions!
The facial steam bath is an effective and natural skin care treatment against impurities. Pimples and blackheads are usually the results of pores clogged with sebum. The body needs sebum as a fatty secretion to keep the skin supple. However, overproduction has the opposite effect and causes skin impurities.
During a facial steam bath, the steam opens the pores and sebaceous glands on the skin. Excess sebum, toxins, and slag are drained away and your blemished skin is gently cleansed. The facial steam bath is so easy to use that you can do it yourself at home. However, if you suffer from sunburn, herpes simplex, inflamed skin, allergies, fresh scars, or similar complaints, we strongly advise against a facial steam bath!
How to make a steam bath for your face yourself?
You hardly need anything for a steam bath on your face. All you need is a large bowl and a towel. This order must be followed in the steam bath for the face:
- Make-up removal: Remove any make-up from your skin so that it can breathe.
- Pour: Bring water to a boil and then pour it into the bowl.
- Steam bath: Hold your face about 30 centimeters above the bowl so that the hot steam can have a good effect on your skin. Put the towel over your head so that the water vapor cannot escape on the sides of the bowl, creating a kind of small steam cabin. For example, hold the towel on the table next to the bowl with your arms. Now breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. Stay over the steam bowl for about five to ten minutes and always keep your eyes closed.
- Cool down: Rinse your face with cold water after the steam bath so that the sebum is removed and your pores close again.
- Creams: Further cleaning of your skin is not necessary afterward. However, it is advisable to apply a moisturizing cream or nourishing oil so that your skin can recover. Squeezing pimples is forbidden!
How long should the steam bath last?
The beauty ritual is not particularly time-consuming! Beauty care with a facial steam bath takes around ten minutes. Note: If the water vapor feels too hot for you, immediately increase the distance between your face and the bowl or, if necessary, let the water cool down a bit to avoid burns! To intensify the effect of the steam bath on the face, you can add various additives to the water. So can a chamomile steam bath soothe your attacked and stressed facial skin and have an anti-inflammatory effect and allow pimples to heal faster? Grapefruit slices or oil can also tighten your skin. Orange peel, rosemary needles, or juniper can disinfect and kill bacteria – the formation of new skin impurities is prevented.
How often should you take a steam bath?
With regular use – about once or twice a week – you can soon look forward to a clearer complexion. A steam bath on the face is not recommended more often, as your skin needs time to regenerate. With daily use, you would not only remove the superfluous but also the necessary sebum from your facial skin – the unpleasant result would be dry skin.
